Austin Rivers to leave Duke for the NBA

The Internet is swirling today with stories that freshman Austin Rivers, son of Celtics coach Doc Rivers, is signing with and agent and entering into the NBA draft.
This is yet another one and done heartbreak for Duke fans following Kyrie Irving's very brief showing as a freshman last year.
There is still no word on Junior Mason Plumlee who is apparently still considering the 2012 draft.

Mason Plumlee Considering 2012 NBA Draft

The Durham Herald-Sun reports that Mason Plumlee, currently a Junior, is considering leaving Duke one year early to enter the NBA Draft this summer. Mason averaged 11.1 points per game and 9.2 rebounds.

Duke Forward Ryan Kelly Has Surgery on Injured Foot; Looking Forward to Next Season

After missing all of ACC and NCAA Tournament play, Duke Forward Ryan Kelly underwent surgery on his injured foot Tuesday. Kelly is expected to make a full recovery within 6-8 weeks and should return at 100% next season.

ESPN: 86.4% of Brackets Picked Duke for Sweet 16

ESPN Tournament Challenge Results as of 3/21/2012
ESPN just released a graphic showing which teams their bracket challenge users picked to make it to the NCAA Sweet 16. More than 8 out of 10 people who filled out a bracket in ESPN's challenge picked both Duke and Mizzou to make it to the Sweet 16, though both made early exits in the second round of the tournament.

Jon Scheyer Heading Home After Short Stint with Israeli Basketball Squad reports that Jon Scheyer, captain of Duke's 2010 National Championship Team, will be returning to the states in short order. Scheyer, who was unselected in the 2010 NBA Draft committed to Israeli basketball team Maccabi Tel Aviv last June. Fans refer to Scheyer as the 'New Jewish Jordan' yet he was never able to live up to the hype. After signing a two year contract with the squad, dubbed 'the yellow and blue', Scheyer was plagued by problems ranging from citizenship issues to team rules allowing no more than four foreign players.

Freshman Austin Rivers Named Rookie of the Year

Duke freshman Austin Rivers becomes just the second player in ACC history to unanimously be named ACC Rookie of the Year. Rivers was named ACC Rookie of the Week nine times this season and becomes the sixth Blue Devil to be named Rookie of the Year.

Kelly out of ACC Tournament with Injury

Duke forward Ryan Kelly will miss the entire ACC Tournament due to a sprained right foot he sustained in practice today.
Kelly averages 11.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this season. He will be reevaluated Monday 3/12/2012 for his viability in the NCAA Tournament.
